An educator by profession, Marie’s previous careers have included in-house writer/editor for a publishing company, television book reviewer and lecturer. From time to time she is invited by business, government and education and training institutions to present on various aspects of public relations, writing and editing. She is the author of numerous widely distributed publications.

She has served on a number of not-for-profit boards, including the History Trust of South Australia, the West End Association and SACON International, and is a past deputy chair of Carrick Hill. She is a founding member of the Society of Editors, South Australia.
